First Stage of Quran Memorization Contest Held in Bangladesh’s Cumilla

DHAKA (IQNA) – The preliminary round of a Quran memorization competition dubbed ‘Quraner Noor’ was held in the city of Cumilla in Bangladesh on Tuesday.

It was the audition for qualification for the second season of the Quraner Noor.

Hundreds of Quran memorizers from across the region participated in the mega event.

Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Musalli Committee is organizing the event –‘Quraner Noor International Hifzul Quran Competition-2024’– for the second time powered by Bashundhara Group, the country’s leading business conglomerate.

The contestants wearing cards and badges completed the registration process one by one at Jamia Madania Raojatul Ulum Madrasa early in the morning.

A total of 465 contestants from Chandpur, Brahmanbaria, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Feni and Cumilla districts participated in the audition.

Cumilla audition coordinator Margubur Rahman has expressed his gratitude to Bashundhara Group for arranging such noble competition to find the untapped talent from across the country.

Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Pesh Imam Shaykhul Hadith Mufti Muhiuddin Kasem led the jury board. He said that a total of 12 scholars, including four learned judges from Dhaka, are adjudicating at the contest.

“We’re impressed by the presence of the young talents of Quran. We wish everyone a bright future,” he said.

The international champion of the event will receive Tk1.5 million while the national-level champion will be awarded Tk1 million.
